The Lady Chaps volleyball team will work to return to their early season form when they travel to Weatherford College and Ranger College for solo matches. Midland College is currently 3-5 on the season after facing stiff competition at last weekend's Victory Electric Classic in Dodge City, KS.
Midland College went 1-3 in the Classic, defeating Otero College (CO) and suffering defeats to nationally ranked Eastern Arizona College, Barton Community College (KS) and the host team, Dodge City CC. MC displayed moments of outstanding play versus Eastern Arizona and Dodge City, but were unable to string together enough consistency to take either match.
Through eight matches the Lady Chaps are being led by freshman Iasmin Araujo (Brazil) with 53 total kills followed by fellow freshman Noa Reculard (France) and returnee Kylee Radwanski (Midland) who have recorded 49 and 45 kills respectively. Sophomore Martyna Lubowicz paces the Lady Chaps in assists with 143 (5.3 per set). Defensively freshman Hailey Reyes (San Antonio) and Araujo lead the squad in digs with 99 and 94 each. Martina Frangella (Argentina) is the total blocks leader for the team with 34 thus far this season.
MC will take on defending NTJCAC and Region 5 champions, Weatherford College on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. On Friday the Lady Chaps will play Ranger College at Ranger, TX in a 1:00 p.m. match.
Go Lady Chaps!
