Midland College Volleyball Finds Footing Versus Amarillo College on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the Chap Center

The Midland College volleyball team and coaching staff were reeling after a fifth consecutive WJCAC loss, Saturday at Clarendon College. The Clarendon loss was even more perplexing considering how Midland College performed in their previous match versus #10 Odessa College. Midland College pushed to the OC Wranglers to fifth set before suffering a loss.
The Lady Chaps were eager to put their recent difficulties behind them as the faced the Amarillo College Badgers on Wednesday night at the Midland College Chaparral Center. Amarillo College defeated the Lady Chaps on September 21st in Amarillo, 3 to 1.
Wednesday night the Lady Chaps hosted the AC Badgers on Midland College Breast Cancer Awareness Night in what they hoped was a revenge match for the Lady Chaps. Midland College, 6-13 this season including 3-6 in WJCAC play, took the first set by a score of 25-22. Amarillo College responded in the second set, taking the frame by a narrow 26-24 score. Midland College cruised to the win in set three, winning 25-16, to move to a two games to one margin. In the fourth, and final set, Midland College played with a sense of urgency, responding each time Amarillo College pulled close. MC put the Badgers away in the fourth set, 25-22 to record an important win in conference.
Midland College was led by freshman Noa Reculard with 16 kills on 35 attempts. Reculard also chipped in with nine digs and two blocks. MC's Iasmin Araujo, was exceptional, posted 15 kills and 22 digs. As usual Lady Chap setter Martyna Lubowicz set the table for MC, recording 46 assists, nine digs and three kills.
Midland College returns to the conference wars on Saturday, October 19th in a 2:00 p.m. match with Western Texas College. Saturday's match will be played at the Chaparral Center.
